Sigma-Aldrich welcomes cancer centre to partnership programme

Sigma-Aldrich has announced it has welcomed the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre to the RNAi Partnership Programme.

By welcoming the centre to the programme, the science company is allowing it access to its functional genomics portfolio and shRNA libraries developed by The RNAi Consortium (TRC).

The libraries target over 15,000 human genes and 15,000 mouse genes – access to which will improve the cancer centre’s gene scanning capabilities, director of the High Throughput Screening Core Facility Dr Hakim Djaballah commented.

He added: "[The access] will enable us to discover and validate cancer-causing genes and pathways which will hopefully lead to novel approaches to therapeutic intervention for cancer patients."

Tim Fleming, Sigma-Aldrich’s director of global commercial marketing for Life Sciences, said the company is looking forward to Memorial Sloan-Kettering researchers’ success utilising the library.
