IS Pharma announces UK launch of Isoplex

IS Pharma has announced that Isoplex, the company’s critical care brand, will be launched in the UK.

The balanced electrolyte (isotonic) plasma substitute has been taken from development to launch in three years and will be used in situations when a patient is losing blood – such as in surgery or trauma.

Isoplex will then be used to increase blood volume, while maintaining the body’s natural balance of salts and minerals that it requires.

The company adds that the majority of Isoplex’s usage is expected to be in operating theatres, accident and emergency and intensive care units – all places that IS Pharma already has a portfolio.

Chief executive officer of IS Pharma, Tim Wright, said that there is a confidence in the ability to make Isoplex successful.

He added: “The launch today is a further excellent example of our ability to deliver on strategy by identifying an area of significant market need and rapidly developing, registering and commercialising specialist pharmaceutical brands.”

IS Pharma’s marketed and development brands include critical care, neurology and oncology, including Volplex (succinylated gelatin, plasma substitute), Mysoline (primidone) and Aloxi (treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting).

Based in the UK, the company commercialises its portfolio nationally and internationally through a network of distributors.
