Henry Schein launches program to promote access to healthcare
Henry Schein has revealed that it will launch Healthy Children, Healthy Lifestyles, a programme to promote access to health care.
The scheme is set to see 4,000 underserved children provided with free medical and dental services in nine US cities over summer and autumn.
Chairman and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, Stanley Bergman, said that the company is dedicated to promoting access to care among communities both in the US and around the world.
He added: “Healthy Children, Healthy Lifestyles is a great example of the power of public-private partnership in meeting the health challenges that face us. This community-based healthcare program is helping health happen through effective partnerships.”
Since launching the program in South Carolina in 2006, Healthy Children, Healthy Lifestyles is co-sponsored by state and local health organisations in each of the nine US cities.
Children will qualify for the programme through health and family services, local government agencies, churches, youth and community organisations and dental associations.
Henry Schein is a member of the Nasdaq 100 index and is based in Melville, New York.
Employing 12,000 people with operations or affiliates in 20 countries, the company’s net sales reached 5.9 billion dollars (3.72 billion pounds) in 2007.
