Purina National Dog Show to Air Thanksgiving Day
Purina is presenting the National Dog Show this autumn and the event is to air on NBC on Thanksgiving Day at noon.
Launched in 1876, it is one of the oldest dog shows in the United States and attracts a viewing audience of around 20 million every year.
This year the event will be hosted by actor and television personality John O’Hurley and David Frei, long-time host of the Westminster Kennel Club dog show.
Over 2,000 dogs of 150 different breeds will appear at the show, including newcomers and previous winners.
As well as crowning the best in show, Purina will also be looking for a dog to win its Doing More for Pets rescue stories contest.
Meanwhile, Purina has signed a deal to become a promotional partner for the film Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog, which is based on the book by John Grogan.
Established in Somerset in 1929 as Spillers Foods, the company’s brands include Go Cat, Winalot, Felix and Bakers Complete.
In 1963, the company acquired Van Camp Seafood, with 1995 seeing the acquisition of the Golden Cat Corporation – North America’s leading marketer of cat litter.
