PerkinElmer launches high-performance imaging software

PerkinElmer has announced the launch of a high-performance imaging software suite called Volocity 5.

Developed by PerkinElmer’s Improvision company and introduced at the Society for Neuroscience conference, Volocity 5 offers a solution for 3D and 4D image acquisition for use in cellular imaging.

It enables charting, object measurement, tracking, publication, deconvolution and data visualisation, the company said – demonstrating a major step in the handling of large data sets.

President of Bio-discovery at PerkinElmer, Richard Eglen PhD, said: "The ability to analyse images from all angles, in 3D and in a time lapse environment, is critical to understanding cellular biology."

Volocity "makes this core function much more streamlined and accessible than before", he added.

The new software suite comprises four core products which are available for Mac OS and Windows.
