Boehringer Ingelheim announces collaboration with software company

Boehringer Ingelheim has announced a partnership with mobile messaging and workflow software company Derdack.

The collaboration will see Boehringer Ingelheim using message master Enterprise Alert within its computing infrastructure.

The system monitors the status of the servers and the uninterruptible power supply and, should an event occur, an alert is sent via text message to the on-call support team.

Jasper Zwarts, IT network engineer at Boehringer Ingelheim, said: “By giving us the ability to solve problems before it affects our business users we have lowered our business risks and message master Enterprise Alert more than paid for itself after the first two faults were fixed.”

He added dealing more effectively with such alerts has saved the company $0.5 million (0.33 million pounds) in lost productivity.

Common faults include over heating in the server room, or an interruption to the power supply – which can lead to servers automatically shutting down.

In other news, Boehringer Ingelheim has announced three journalists are the recipients of the Eloquium Award.

The prize is given for excellence in reporting on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Founded in Ingelheim, Germany in 1885, the company has 38,400 employees, of which 900 are in the UK.
