Pfizer and Celldex announce amendment to study

Pfizer and Celldex have announced an amendment to the act III study of the CDX-110 investigational immunotherapy vaccine in Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM).

The randomised open-label, two-arm trial is to compare the investigational compound – combined with temozolomide – to temozolomide by itself in patients diagnosed with the condition.

The amendment will convert act III to a single-arm clinical trial – which also follows the recommendation of the Independent Data Monitoring Committee – was based on observation that the majority of patients that were randomised withdrew from the open-label study.

All patients remaining in the research will receive the study medication, will continue to enrol and will be offered the option to receive treatment with CDX-110.

The vaccine targets the tumour specific EGFR mutant EGFRvIII and is under development to treat GBM, the most common form of brain tumour.

An aggressive tumour, the condition predominantly affects adults aged 45 to 70, the company said.

Last week, Pfizer declared a $0.32 (0.21 pounds) first-quarter dividend.

Unchanged from the fourth-quarter, it is set to be payable to shareholders on March 3rd next year, of record at the close of business on February 6th.

The company has a yield of 7.6 per cent, though investors of the organisation are trading at ten-year lows.
