ProStrakan announces change of results date

ProStrakan has said it has changed the date it will announce its 2008 preliminary results.

The figures – which run to December 31st 2008 – are now set to be declared on March 18th, instead of March 19th.

Last month, the company announced it has received marketing approval for Abstral in Germany.

ProStrakan said the endorsement from the country’s BfArM regulatory authority means it plans to launch the product this month, with further launches across Europe expected to follow later on in the year.

Formerly branded as Rapinyl, the drug is a fast-dissolving tablet which is used for the treatment of breakthrough cancer pain in patients, who already receive opioid analgesics.

Commenting at the time, Dr Wilson Totten, ProStrakan chief executive, said: “Germany is an important market for Abstral and its approval by BfArM is a significant step forward towards its launch there.”

He added: “We look forward to introducing German oncologists to this important product for cancer patients.”

Based in Scotland, the company employs approximately 200 people and has commercial operations across the UK and Europe.

ProStrakan’s development group is located in Galashiels, Scotland.

In 2005, the company completed its initial public offering of shares, which saw it becoming listed on the London Stock Exchange.
