Henry Schein declares acquisition of three companies

Henry Schein has said it has acquired three companies in the dental, veterinary and medical markets.

The businesses – Noviko, DNA Atnthos Aimpianti and Medka – collectively saw sales in 2008 of 110 million euros (99.8 million pounds).

Henry Schein said terms of the transaction were not disclosed, however the deals which have been closed are expected to be accretive to the company’s 2009 financial results.

Chairman and chief executive officer of the organisation, Stanley Bergman, commented the deal will “further strengthen” the company’s “leading presence” in Europe.

He said: “We look forward to sharing best practices between these newly-acquired organisations and our existing operations and to using our combined strengths to enhance our Pan-European presence.”

Founded in 1996, Noviko is a supplier of veterinary supplies in the Czech Republic and is headquartered in Brno.

DNA Anthos Impianti is a distributing arm of Cefla Dental and Medka – based in Berlin, Germany – is a full-service provider of medical consumables.

In November, Henry Schein announced its third quarter results, which found the company’s net sales were at $1.7 billion (1.17 billion pounds), an increase of 9.6 per cent from 12 months earlier.

The figures also found the organisation’s income from continuing operations was $68.4 million.
