PerkinElmer announces launch of MicroBeta2 microplate counter platform

PerkinElmer has launched its new microplate counter platform, the MicroBeta2.

The system has been designed to improve radiometric and luminescent detection in basic life sciences and drug discovery research, according to the company.

Along with the MicroBeta2 LumiJET system, the new platform is the latest version of the MicroBeta product line from PerkinElmer.

It combines "liquid scintillation with counter reliability with plate reader simplicity" to reduce waste, time and consumables, according to a statement from the company.

Richard M Eglen, president of bio-discovery at the firm, commented. "Leveraging PerkinElmer’s long leadership in radiometric detection solutions, the MicroBeta2 platform further represents a flexible system for either radiometric detection, or luminescent drug discovery assays."

PerkinElmer – a leader with a focus on the health and safety of the environment and people – also noted the robustness of the microplate counter platform’s design.
