Johnson and Johnson joins Enlight initiative
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has joined an Enlight-led initiative, it has emerged.
As part of the PureTech collaboration, the company will be able to invest in schemes including the development of strategic technologies in drug discovery.
Enlight said the joining of J&J will, as a result, mean the combined total funding towards such advances is now up to $52 million (37.84 million pounds).
Commenting on the partnership, Dr Frank Douglas, board member at Enlight and PureTech ventures senior partner, said the collaboration would benefit from J&J’s commercial expertise and expansive scope of science.
He added the collaboration would also gain from “the company’s commitment to an open innovation model of supporting universities and medical centres”.
Corporate vice-president of J&J Garry Neil added: “Participation in this initiative will allow us to work with our consortium peers to identify technology needs and influence future industry standards.”
Earlier this month, J&J said it had signed a licence agreement with Burnham Institute.
