Beiersdorf reveals proposal to increase dividend

5th February 2009

Beiersdorf has revealed plans to increase its dividend for 2008.

The company intends to raise the figure from 2007’s amount of 0.70 euros (0.62 pounds) to 0.90 euros, in accordance with the Wertpapierhandelsgesetz – Germany’s Securities Trading Act.

The increase will follow consent from the company’s advisory board – submitted on February 19th – and will be proposed at the organisation’s shareholder meeting on April 30th.

Beiersdorf explained the dividend rise “will also enable the shareholders to participate in the special gains from the divestments of the previous years in an appropriate way”.

Last month, the organisation revealed in its preliminary figures for 2008 its sales had increased to 5,970 million euros, a climb on the previous year’s amount of 5,507 million euros.

The company also noted its overall trade growth increased to 10.6 per cent from the 7.5 per cent reported at the end of 2007.
