Agilent Technologies opens Galway facility
Agilent Technologies has unveiled a new resource situated on the National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway campus.
Together with the school, it opened the Biological Mass Spectometry Facility and claimed it is a "state of the art" site designed to focus on proteomics, functional genomics, lipidomics and metabolomics studies.
It is equipped with some of the latest accurate-mass quadropole time-of-flight spectrometer platforms from Agilent, as well as triple quadropole mass spectrometer platforms.
New instruments will be showcased and samples run at the facility for Agilent customers, the company said.
General manager for the LC/MS business Gustavo Salem commented: "NUI Galway has some of the top primary investigators in Europe.
"We look forward to working closely with them to further their breakthrough research in the fields of metabolomics and proteomics."
The partnership between NUI Galway and Agilent Technologies is part of the latter’s academia programme.
Last month, the company delivered what it claimed to be the industry’s first inline error injection tool jammer.
