Ansell reports increase in earnings

12th February 2009

Ansell has announced an increase in its takings, as part of its half-year results.

The organisation’s reported earnings before interest and taxes now stand at $61.5 million (43.3 million pounds) – a 27 per cent rise – while its earnings per share have also grown to $0.398, up 13 per cent.

Ansell additionally noted its profit had increased nine per cent to $54.1 million.

Chairman of the company Peter Barnes said the results were good, considering the stalling global economy.

“However, the second-half outlook – with lower occupational sales and actions taken to reduce excess occupational inventories – requires a more cautious view,” he warned.

The firm’s earnings per share guidance has been revised to a lower figure.

Previously $0.70 to $0.74, it has been changed to $0.65 to $0.70.

Ansell’s products include Hyflex, Sol-Vex, Encore, Gammex and Manix, among others.

The company has 29 facilities in 16 countries.
