Planemeca receives recognition for 2 products

24th February 2009

Planemeca has received recognition for two of its products in the Fennia Prize 2009 design competition.

Kari Malmen, the firm’s industrial design manager, explained one of the devices that obtained an honourable mention, the ProOne, was designed to create a panoramic X-ray unit which would be suitable for every dentist.

It was intended to be simple to use, lightly constructed and highly integrated.

The second mechanism that was acknowledged was the Sovereign, which is suitable for both left and right-handed professionals as it utilises motorised operations.

Ms Malmen commented: “The user-oriented product development and design combined with the latest technology lie behind the success of our products.”

Both creations have previously been given credit in the iF product design award in Germany in 2008.

The purpose of the Fennia Prize is to support the manufacture of high-standard devices and it is judged on usability, responsibility and business aspects.

Established in 1971, Planmeca designs and manufactures dental equipment using a full line of high technology and is the largest privately owned company of its kind in Europe.
