Ecolab expands portfolio with acquisition of Stackhouse

27th February 2009

Ecolab has expanded its portfolio and purchased assets of Corpak Medsystems’ Stackhouse business.

The company, which has offices across the globe and also focuses on activities such as pest control and water care systems, said it made the acquisition to help develop its range of products for the reduction of healthcare associated infections (HAIs).

Stackhouse manufactures surgical helmets and smoke evacuators which are aimed primarily for use in the field of orthopaedic surgery, as well as other areas where HAIs are considered a concern.

Ecolab chairman, president and chief executive officer Douglas Baker remarked: “Stackhouse broadens Ecolab’s healthcare offerings in surgical barrier protection and personal protection, and will allow more aggressive development of our opportunities in the growing orthopaedic surgery market.”

No details regarding the financial aspect of the transaction were announced, although it was stated that Stackhouse sales for 2008 reached about $4 million (2.82 million pounds).

Ecolab currently employs over 23,000 people in over 160 countries.
