Schering-Plough Animal Health postpones National Vaccination Month

Schering-Plough Animal Health has postponed its National Vaccination Month to June 2009, it has been reported.

The campaign was supposed to take place in March but it has been delayed due to a temporary shortage of the Canine Leptospirosis preventative medication, explained PetHealthCare.

Angus Robinson from the company told the website that last year, around 70,000 people registered with the scheme, which resulted in more than 32,000 additional vaccinations being administered.

He commented it was important to ensure that veterinary practices had access to the full range of preventative medications to support the initiative.

“We are hoping to reach even more unvaccinated animals this year,” Mr Robinson said.

“It is a measure of the seriousness we attach to achieving this that the campaign has been delayed to give all animals access to the protection they need.”

National Vaccination Month aims to highlight the need for protecting cats, dogs, rabbits and horses against certain illnesses.

Schering-Plough Animal Health researches, develops, manufactures and sells veterinary medicines. Its products aim to prevent, treat and control disease in all major agricultural and companion species.
