Nobel Biocare plans lower costs than in 2008

Nobel Biocare plans for its selling, general and administrative costs to be lower this year than in 2008.

In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires at the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, the company’s chief executive Domenica Scala made this comment.

He explained the Zurich-based implant, crowns and bridges manufacturer is unlikely to provide its full-year financial targets on April 29th when it presents its first-quarter results.

“The market environment remains hard to judge – and it would be irresponsible to give a guidance right now,” Mr Scala asserted, adding expenses will hopefully be less than 12 months ago.

He added the firm will expand its portfolio by presenting an intraoral scanner within the next 15 to 18 months – but it was still undecided whether it would develop the technology internally or find a partner.

The device would not be to replace scanners which take digital impressions of patients’ jaws, but would complement them, Mr Scala concluded.
