Bayer Animal Health highlights parasite importance

Bayer Animal Health has asserted it is important to investigate and predict future impacts of parasite behaviour on creatures’ health.

The fourth symposium of the Canine Vector-Borne Disease World Forum, which is supported by the company, was held from March 26th to 28th in Seville, Spain.

Scientists from across the world gathered to issue a warning to dog owners to ensure their pet is protected from blood-sucking insects such as ticks, fleas, sand flies and mosquitos.

These insects can transmit dangerous pathogens and there has been an increasing number of them due to the effects of global warming as hotter summers and milder winters provide the ideal climate for them to breed and feed.

Head of global marketing at Bayer Animal Health Margaret Fairhurst explained ongoing research and the accumulation of scientific knowledge in this area is important.

“We will be better equipped to identify new disease threats and quickly work to effectively address them, advancing today’s animal healthcare to meet the challenges of an evolving world,” she remarked.
