Lilly appoints Dr Sue Mahony senior vice-president of HR

Lilly has announced Dr Sue Mahony will replace the retired Dr Tony Murphy as senior vice-president of human resources (HR).

Her strong leadership and previous experience in the industry will help the company in the face of unprecedented challenges and opportunity, according to the business’ chairman, president and chief executive officer John Lechleiter.

Prior to this appointment, Dr Mahony ? who has a phD in pharmacy from Aston University – held sales and marketing roles in the UK and Europe for Amgen, Schering-Plough and Bristol-Myers Squibb for more than ten years collectively.

In 2008, she was named general manager of Lilly Canada and has also served as a leader for the business’ sales and marketing division.

Dr Lechleiter commented: “Sue brings a fresh perspective that will help guide the way we anticipate and respond to a rapidly changing environment.”

Earlier this month, it was proclaimed J Michael Cook would step down from Lilly’s board of directors. The retirement became effective as of today (April 20th).

Michael Eskew will replace him as chair of the audit committee.
