Abbott shares citizenship report
Abbott appreciates the chance to share details of the progress it has achieved in addressing some of the important impacts it has made in the world, it has declared.
Chairman and chief executive officer of the company Miles D White made this comment after the firm announced it had launched its 2008 global citizenship report called Advancing Innovation.
The publication includes information about the firm’s mission to improve people around the world.
Four of its key areas are protecting patients and consumers, safeguarding the environment, enhancing access and innovating for the future.
To help achieve its latter goal, Abbott helped over 7,000 scientists develop nine new products ? including pharmaceuticals ? last year.
It also provided more than 155,000 patients with free medicines, diabetes care products and medical nutrition.
Mr White commented: “These are the areas in which our business has the greatest effects on society and the environment, and which offer us the greatest opportunity to make a difference in the challenges facing our world today.”
Earlier this month, the firm released its first quarter results of 2009.
