Beckman Coulter unveils Cogenics testing plans

29th May 2009

Beckman Coulter has revealed one of its subsidiaries will launch a new international genomic service.

Making use of the drug metabolising enzymes and transporters plus premier pack, Cogenics will provide its partners in the pharmaceutical industry with safety testing that it claims will be both standardised and cost-efficient for users.

This system, which is created by Affymetrix, is said to be capable of the simultaneous study of 1,936 metabolism markers across 225 genetic options.

Susan Evans, global general manager for Cogenics, noted it was important for the firm to be able to offer the best possible facilities for genotyping data at a cost level that suited their clients’ needs.

"Given our experience and success with the DMET platform, we’re excited to make this new solution available to our pharma customers," she added.

Last month, Beckman Coulter decided to expand its drugs abuse testing solution with facilities to locate DRI oxycodone enzyme immunoassays.
