Dechra congratulates winners of competition
Dechra has congratulated the winners of a competition who have exemplified how to effectively treat feline hyperthyroidism.
Linda Williams of Guild Street Veterinary Centre in Stratford-upon-Avon and Elizabeth Lyon who works at the Manchester Atherton Veterinary Centre were among the five participants the judges deemed had demonstrated best practice in the medical management of the condition.
In order to qualify for the prize ? which was £1,000 worth of high street vouchers ? the winners had to present cases where they had utilised Felimazole (thiamazole) to improve the longevity and welfare of one of the cats they were caring for with hyperthyroid.
The examples also highlighted how careful adjustment of the dosing regime could achieve effective control of throxine levels, the company behind the award stated.
Carol Morgan, product manager for Dechra’s veterinary products department, commented on the honours.
“Our aim is to publish a selection of these prize-winning studies ? to share the information that we have collected with the veterinary profession to aid understanding about how cats respond to treatment,” she said.
Last month, Dechra announced it had appointed three new members of staff in order to broaden its technical services department.
