Novartis says it is dedicated to developing Menveo

Novartis’ vaccines and diagnostics department is dedicated to developing its investigational preventative medicine Menveo.

The company’s chief executive officer Andrin Oswald made this comment after it was announced the Food and Drug Administration ((FDA) had sent the business feedback on its biologics licence application.

No additional clinical investigations of the medication are required, but the regulatory body has requested additional details about the therapy.

On August 28th 2008, Novartis submitted the paperwork to the FDA to try and get the drug approved for the treatment of meningococcus in patients aged between 11 and 55.

“[The] disease is a devastating illness that can result in rapid death or have long-lasting repercussions for survivors and their families,” explained Mr Oswald.

“We are dedicated to applying our industry-leading technology and expertise to further the development of Menveo and other vaccines.”

Last month, Novatis Aclasta (zoledronic acid 5 mg) was approved to treat men and postmenopausal women in the EU who suffer from osteoporosis caused by long-term use of steroids.
