Ceva Animal Health collars to be given to Dogs Trust animals

Ceva Animal Health dog-appeasing pheromone collars are set to be given to every dog taken in by Dogs Trust shelters, it has been reported.

In an article for online information resource GleeWire, Mary Clarke explains that the items are designed to reduce animals’ stress levels, which can be raised when they live in kennel environments.

Before the decision regarding the rollout was made, the collars were trialled at the Dogs Trust Harefield re-homing centre, which is located in west London and is one of 17 such facilities around the country.

In the trial, the canines that were given the collars to wear were found to be less likely to display signs of stress such as pacing or barking.

“It is hoped that using the collars will help the Dogs Trust to re-home more dogs as effects of stress can make dogs more difficult to re-home. When dogs are stressed in a kennel environment they have been known to become aggressive, stop eating or overeat,” Ms Clarke notes.
