Grifols recognises work of Giancarlo Castaman

Grifols has honoured the work of researcher Giancarlo Castaman in its Martin Villar Haemostasis Awards.

In a statement, the organisation explained that Mr Castaman, who works at the cellular therapy and haematology department of the San Bortolo Hospital, has won first prize in the awards.

Meanwhile, Carlos Daniel de Brasi from the Mariano R Castex Institute For Haematological Research at the National Academy of Medicine of Buenos Aires and Eduardo Tizzano Ferrari of the Genetic Service and Research Institute at Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital have also been honoured.

In a statement, the organisation said: "Grifols established these awards to help aid the development of research in the field of blood coagulation disorders and to honour Dr Jose Martin Villar."

Mr Castaman will receive 25,000 euros (21,462 pounds), while Mr Tizzano Ferrari is set to be awarded 10,000 euros and Mr De Brasi will be given 5,000 euros.
