Almirall reports positive first half performance

31st July 2009

Almirall has reported a strong performance during the first half of 2009.

In a statement issued as the enterprise posted its financial results for the first six months of this year, Jorge Gallardo, chairman and chief executive of the firm, praised its accomplishments.

Almirall’s net income for the period totalled 103.4 million euros (88.31 million pounds), a figure that was attributed to the divestment of 13 products earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, net sales grew by 4.5 per cent to stand at 488.8 million euros.

Commenting, Mr Gallardo said: “Our results are derived from a robust and forward-looking strategy, on which we will continue to work to achieve our business objectives.”

The firm concluded by noting that it remains open to considering new opportunities for corporate development.

Earlier this month, Almirall noted that prevention management is one of its “distinguishing features” and explained that it has carried out extensive training on the matter with members of staff.
