Hologic “committed to developing new products”
Hologic remains dedicated to the development of new products, its chairman and chief executive has asserted.
Jack Cumming made his comments as the company posted its financial results for the third quarter of 2009.
In the three-month period ended June 27th 2009, the firm reported revenues of $403.1 million (237.2 million pounds).
Other highlights of the quarter included net income of $41 million and Food and Drug Administration approval of the Adiana permanent contraception system.
Commenting, Mr Cumming said: "We remain committed to developing new products to complement our current lines and fuel our long-term growth objectives, and our cash flows from operations and balance sheet continue to remain very strong."
He added that the company is "thrilled" to be able to offer women a new alternative for their long-term contraception requirements with Adiana.
In recent days, Hologic announced that its NovaSure procedure, which is designed for the management of excessive menstrual bleeding, had been performed on its one millionth patient.
