Ivoclar Vivadent ceramic ‘most durable to date’

17th August 2009

Ivoclar Vivadent’s ceramic – IPS e.max Lithium Disilicate – is the dental industry’s most durable and effective ceramic product launched to date, it has been discovered.

According to a new study conducted by the New York University College of Dentistry, Ivoclar Vivadent’s product came out on top during mechanical mouth-to-mouth simulator testing.

The simulator was used in step-stress fatigue testing and examined the qualities of IPS e.max Lithium Disilicate full-coverage crowns compared to veneered zirconia crowns.

It found that none of these failed below cycles of 1,000 N and one million cycles, whereas 50 per cent of the veneered zirconia crowns tested suffered from chip-off fractures at 100 K cycles at 200 N.

Other Ivoclar Vivadent products include its adhesive luting composite variolink veneer, Skyce tooth jewels and crown, universal and implant alloys.
