Thermo Fisher Scientific ‘to acquire BRAHMS AG’
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced that it has signed a contract to acquire BRAHMS AG for 330 million euros (287 million pounds).
The transaction, which is due to be completed in 2010, will be executed according to earnings per share values.
BRAHMS a provider of in-vitro diagnostic tests holds patents for its biomarkers for sepsis, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases in addition to treatments for prenatal screening and intensive care.
It currently employs around 400 people in 65 countries globally and generated revenues of 75 million euros in 2008.
"BRAHMS is a significant addition to our specialty diagnostics portfolio, bringing exciting new products and technologies to an area of our company that offers some of our greatest opportunities for growth," explained Marjin Dekkers, president and chief executive of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Last month, Thermo Fisher Scientific announced that it intends to grant reagents to life science researchers worth a total of $400,000 (£244,723 pounds).
