PerkinElmer launches DSC-Raman spectroscopy system

PerkinElmer’s new Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)-Raman spectroscopy hyphenated system is now available to those working in laboratories, it has announced.

Combining the strengths of thermal analysis with Raman spectroscopy, the new system provides a greater insight into material changes at a molecular level.

The DSC-Raman system simultaneously analyses chemical and structural information from the Raman spectrometer and correlates it with the calorimetric data of the DSC, reducing research and development time and improving the performance of new drugs being brought to the market.

Martin Long, vice-president of spectroscopy at PerkinElmer, said: "We have employed [our] expertise to develop an exclusive hyphenated technique that allows researchers to look directly at the sample as material changes occur."

Another product PerkinElmer has launched recently is its Columbus 2.0 platform – a piece of high-content screening data management software for use in cellular imaging and analysis.

It allows users to take part in rapid, high-performance analysis of images, regardless of where the data originated.
