Takeda to establish new European subsidiaries

8th October 2009

Takeda, the research-based global pharmaceutical firm, has revealed that it plans to set up four new commercial subsidiaries.

These will cover areas in Europe, including Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium and Luxembourg.

According to Alan MacKenzie, executive vice-president of International Operations at Takeda, the company is in a good position to expand its presence in these countries.

“Executing our territory expansion strategy is an important step toward further globalising our operations and enhancing our ability to bring important medicines to patients who need them,” he added.

The new subsidiaries will be entitled Takeda Pharmaceuticals Trade, Takeda Pharmaceuticals Nordics AB, Takeda Pharmaceuticals Benelux SPRL and Takeda Pharmaceuticals Mexico.

Last week, Takeda revealed that, in collaboration with Eisai, it had submitted an application for the use of proton pump inhibitors with concomitant therapy for the treatment of helicobacter pylori.

In total, three proton pump inhibitors – lansoprazole, omeprazole and rabeprazole sodium – were involved in the application.
