Cardinal Health appoints a new executive vice-president

Cardinal Health has recruited a new executive vice-president of strategy and corporate development, it has revealed.

From October 19th 2009, Mark Blake will take up the position and, along with it, responsibility for company-wide strategic planning and business development, ecompassing the identification, evaluation and execution of acquisitions, divestitures and collaboration agreements.

Mr Blake, who will report to George Barrett, chairman of Cardinal Health, joins the company from his former role of vice-president of business development at Medco Solutions.

He obtained a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University and also has an MBA in finance and accounting.

“Mark is a proven leader in strategic planning and execution with the relevant experience in health care to navigate this rapidly evolving industry,” explained Mr Barrett.

Earlier this month, Cardinal Health launched its E Grant Programme, through which it is inviting healthcare foundations and community clinics to apply for funding to improve their efficiency and quality of care.
