Nalco introduces new manufacturing and environmental initiative
Nalco has unveiled the results of a new environmental initiative that aims to use one of its own patent-pending processes.
The firm will begin pilot plant production of quaternized dimethylaminoethyl acrylate for use in its industrial water treatment programmes, it has revealed.
It will manufacture this material using state-of-the-art technology to produce a higher-quality product with a smaller manufacturing footprint.
According to Erik Fyrwald, chairman and chief executive officer of Nalco, there are “relatively few” suppliers of the component, which is a “critical” resource.
He continued: “We felt it was of strategic importance to back integrate our production capabilities to insure we maintain leadership in the ability to deliver value in these critical water technology markets.”
This news comes after Nalco revealed that it joined the United Nations Global Compact – the world’s largest corporate citizenship and social responsibility organisation – last month.
