Forster supports NHS organ donor campaign

4th November 2009

Munro & Forster’s services have been retained for the government’s new drive to encourage Britons to donate their organs.

NHS Blood and Transplant is hoping to significantly increase the number of people signing up to the NHS Organ Donor Register by launching a “hard-hitting campaign”, PRWeek reports.

As well as NHS Blood and Transplant’s first national television advertisement, the project includes a special online game developed by Munro & Forster, which involves giving the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz a new heart.

According to NHS research, 96 per cent of people in the UK would accept an organ if they needed a transplant, but the Organ Donor Register includes just 27 per cent of the population.

Furthermore, over 1,000 people requiring a transplant die each year due to the shortage of donors.

The £3 million campaign was launched on Monday (November 2nd) and is expected to run until the end of March 2010.
