Mast Group tests ‘recommended for pneumonia investigations’
Mast Group has highlighted that the British Thoracic Society recently updated its guidelines as to pneumonia investigations and has recommended the use of PCR tests, such as those provided by the firm.
Published in the October edition of Thorax, the guidance states that, when possible, PCR tests should be performed for examinations into atypical pneumonia infections in patients who have been hospitalised.
Mast Group highlights that this need can be met by its Seeplex Pneumobacter ACE tests, which identify typical and atypical bacterial infections, including S.pneumoniae, H.Influenzae and M.pneumoniae.
“The simple-to-use, rapid, easily integrated platform enables laboratories to implement a lean testing protocol that can reduce hands-on time, staff training and also help make best use of laboratory space,” the organisation points out.
Mast Group announced the launch of its Seeplex Influenza A/B OneStep PCR assay last week – a product that features patented digital phosphor technology to ensure high sensitivity and specificity, the company stated.
