‘More men’ opting for tummy tuck surgery

A growing number of men are choosing to have a tummy tuck to rid themselves of unwanted abdominal flab, a leading cosmetic surgery provider has said.

According to the Hospital Group – one of the UK’s leading providers of cosmetic surgery and obesity surgery – there has been a 60 per cent increase in male tummy tucks over the past five years.

The procedure, which is known in medical circles as abdominoplasty, is much sought-after for a number of reasons, such as to correct a perceived imperfection or to gain a more youthful appearance.

A spokesperson for the Hospital Group revealed: “Men often opt to have a tummy tuck if they have had substantial weight loss and are left with sagging skin around the abdomen.

“We have seen an increase in men having obesity surgery which could have had a knock-on effect.”

During a tummy tuck, the cosmetic surgeon makes incisions which allow the removal of excess skin and fat, creating a tighter, flatter abdomen.

Other procedures offered by the Hospital Group include breast surgery, facelifts and ear plastic surgery.
