NPA announces resignation of chief executive

The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has announced that its chief executive John Turk has resigned from the organisation.

Mr Turk, who has occupied the role for two years, was stated to have stood down in order to pursue other projects.

Commenting on the announcement, NPA chairman Ian Facer thanked the outgoing executive for his contributions to the body and wished him well in the future.

Mr Turk also expressed satisfaction with his tenure as chief executive, stating his belief that he was able to achieve a “great deal”.

He added: “The organisation now has a clearly defined remit to represent, support and protect its members and a strong management team and structure in place to deliver.”

Last week, the NPA welcomed news that the benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment tamsulosin is to be made available through community pharmacies without prescription.

It said this would help sufferers of the condition to gain access to treatment and advice more easily.
