Sigma-Aldrich launches new version of web-based research portal

Sigma-Aldrich has introduced a new and improved version of Your Favorite Gene Powered By Ingenuity, its web-based resource for biological research.

The new version of the site, which is operated by Sigma-Aldrich in conjunction with Ingenuity Systems, is designed to make it easier for researchers to model their studies on previously published research.

Among the new features added are a biologically relevant literature search, new data from expression studies and clinical trials, and information on diseases and compounds relevant to specific genes.

Dr David Smoller, president of Sigma-Aldrich’s Research Biotech business unit, said these enhancements will make the resource more valuable to researchers and students.

He added: “This expansion allows us to bring the broadest collection of relevant biological information in one place and match it to our comprehensive portfolio ? enabling researchers to quickly find the products they need.”

Last week, the science company expanded its pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing capabilities with the opening of a newly-expanded facility in Wisconsin.
