GE Healthcare launches new breast cancer imaging system
GE Healthcare has introduced new imaging technology which is designed to allow mammography to be conducted more quickly and accurately.
The company’s new SenoBright Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography technology has been developed in conjunction with Qatar Science and Technology Park and is optimised to reduce the time between detection and diagnosis.
It functions using X-rays at multiple energies to create two separate exposures, making it easier to detect angiogenesis even in the densest parts of the breast tissue.
The firm also states that the new system is easy to utilise and that procedures can be conducted using the same staff and equipment as regular mammography scans.
Reinaldo Garcia, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “This innovative technology will support the earlier diagnosis of this prevalent disease, by providing access to new diagnostic information at a lower cost.”
Last month, GE Healthcare announced a new collaboration with CardioDx to develop new technologies for cardiovascular disease treatment.
