Johnson and Johnson details new consumer product launches
Johnson and Johnson has detailed its plans to launch a number of new medical technology products for the consumer market in the coming months.
The company is hoping to consolidate its market-leading position in the medical device and diagnostics sector in 2010 with the release of several products, including new diabetes care devices and contact lenses.
These will include the OneTouch Verio blood glucose monitoring system, which is optimised to deliver greater accuracy and precision for patients, as well as rolling out its 1-Day Acuvue TruEye contact lenses in more territories around the world.
In addition, the firm has also completed clinical trials of a new vision care product which incorporates anti-allergy medication on a contact lens.
Alex Gorsky, worldwide chairman of Johnson and Johnson’s medical devices and diagnostics segment, said: “We are the largest and strongest medical device company in the world today and [are] poised to continue advancing patient care in the future.”
According to the financial report published by the company in April, the group as a whole experienced strong performance in the first quarter of 2010, recording a four per cent increase in sales year-on-year.
