Bausch and Lomb appoints new surgical business head
Bausch and Lomb has announced the appointment of Robert Grant as the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of its global surgical business unit.
Mr Grant is currently serving as corporate vice-president and president of Allergan Medical, while he has also acted in prominent executive and management roles at firms such as Biolase, Lumenis and Sulzer Medica.
When he steps into his new Bausch and Lomb role on August 1st 2010, Mr Grant will replace J Andy Corley as the surgical division’s president, with Mr Corley taking up a new position as a senior adviser to group CEO Brent Saunders.
Mr Saunders expressed confidence that the new executive’s experience makes him the “right person at the right time” for Bausch and Lomb.
He added: “He brings a track record of rapid value creation, powerful leadership and a relentless focus on the customer that can take our surgical business to a new level of performance.”
Bausch and Lomb appointed Mr Saunders as CEO earlier this year following the retirement of Gerald Ostrov, with Fred Hassan taking on Mr Ostrov’s responsibilities as chairman.
