Stryker expands board with new director

Stryker has appointed Dr Roch Doliveux, the chief executive officer and chairman of the executive committee of UCB Pharmaceuticals, as a new member of its board of directors.

Dr Doliveux has served in the role at UCB since 2005 and has previously occupied key leadership positions at Pierre Fabre Pharmaceuticals and Schering-Plough International.

He has also earned qualifications in the fields of business and veterinary medicine at INSEAD and the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire d’Alfort in France.

The appointment of Dr Doliveux to the board of directors expands the total membership of the body to nine.

Stephen MacMillan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, welcomed the appointment, saying: “Roch brings an outstanding combination of talents and experiences as a globally-minded healthcare executive with a strong focus on patients and innovation.”

According to Stryker’s most recent financial report in April 2010, the firm experienced a strong performance in the first quarter of the year, with sales increasing by 12.4 per cent compared to Q1 2009.
