Medtronic launches new surgical drill

Medtronic has launched a new surgical drill product, which is designed to be easy to operate and versatile.

The Midas Rex Legend EHS Stylus Touch high-speed electric drill is the first Medtronic drill to feature integrated finger control.

It is one of a range of control options available on the device, which can be operated using finger or footpedal control only, while a touchscreen interface allows custom setting selection and quick adjustments.

In addition, it is optimised for versatility, offering functionality for spinal, cranial and orthopaedic surgical procedures, as well as compatibility with other interchangeable Legend tools and attachments for additional applications.

Last week, Medtronic published new data which demonstrated the clinical advantages of using anatomically-designed ablation catheters, such as its own Arctic Front devices, to treat paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
