Cook executive wins AAMI’s highest honour

29th June 2010

Cook Group executive Neal Fearnot has been presented with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation’s (AAMI’s) Laufman-Greatbatch Prize for his contribution to healthcare.

Mr Fearnot, the founding president of Cook Group’s MED Institute and Cook Biotech companies, was awarded the organisation’s top prize for his leadership in the field of medical devices.

Among the innovations he has helped to pioneer was the first hand-held electrocardiogram, as well as the first exercise-responsive pacemaker.

Mr Fearnot currently serves as chairman of the MED Institute board and vice-president of Cook Group.

He said: “It is truly an honour to receive this award from AAMI and I receive it on behalf of many who have laid the groundwork before me or have walked the journey with me.”

Last week, Cook Medical confirmed that it will be sponsoring six British Society of Endovascular Therapy fellowships, which are to be presented at the Endovascular Fusion industry event in July 2010.
