Elsevier launches new geriatric oncology journal
Elsevier has announced the launch of a new international multidisciplinary medical journal which focuses on issues affecting older patients with cancer.
The Journal of Geriatric Oncology has been developed in collaboration with the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) and is designed to cover a range of topics, including educational and policy issues as well as clinical research.
Geriatrician and oncologist Dr Arti Hurria will act as editor-in-chief for the new publication, with cancer specialist Dr Matti Aapro appointed as founding editor.
Dr Aapro stated that Elsevier and SIOG have launched the journal with the aim of making it the leading source of information in this area of study.
He added: “It is imperative that chronologic age alone does not prevent senior adult patients from receiving treatment and care for their cancer, which is in line with best practice.”
Last month, Elsevier announced the agreement of a deal to purchase knowledge discovery software provider Collexis, in order to expand the range of services it offers to the research community.
