UCB to augment business with new ICT staff

19th July 2010

UCB is moving to make its research and development activities more efficient with the appointment of new staff in ICT positions.

The pharmaceutical company is conducting a recruitment campaign which will see it expand its workforce with around 40 additional employees, meaning it will be able to conduct a wider range of IT functions in-house.

Among the aspects of its business which UCB seeks to improve are its infrastructure, corporate functions and processes, as well as its research capabilities.

The company explained that this move will allow it to better utilise technology in order to develop new treatments for patients.

Herman De Prins, chief information officer at UCB, said: “The IT department has a vital place in UCB’s business strategy. We don’t just build infrastructure for everyday operations: we provide and supply solutions that actively help us to develop the best treatments for the patient.”

Last month, UCB announced that it will be increasing its stake in the cancer drug specialist firm Wilex, a move which will give it an increased presence in the oncology market.
