Stryker hails strength of second quarter performance

26th July 2010

Stryker has expressed satisfaction with its performance in the second quarter of 2010, with sales and earnings seeing a year-on-year improvement.

According to the medical technology firm’s new financial report, the company’s net sales total rose by 7.6 per cent compared to Q2 2009 to $1.8 billion (1.2 billion pounds).

Its Orthopaedic Implants and MedSurg Equipment business units both contributed to this with improved sales and higher shipments, with this success being reflected in the US and in international markets.

As a result, the company expects to meet its 2010 full-year prediction of a net sales increase of between five and eight per cent.

Stephen MacMillan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, said: “Our second quarter results reflect the underlying strength of our diverse product offering and global presence, which is allowing us to continue to deliver on the goals we outlined at the start of 2010.”

Last month, Styrker announced the appointment of Dr Roch Doliveux, current chairman of UCB Pharmaceuticals, as the newest member of its board of directors.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800005318-ADNFCR
