Teva UK details ‘good health for less’ OTC range
Teva UK has outlined its plans to launch a comprehensive range of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines based on the principle of "good health for less".
The healthcare company will be introducing more than 20 lines of products – including analgesic, gastrointestinal, allergy, cold and flu relief medication – in autumn 2010, with further medicines to be launched in 2011.
It explained that the products, which are now available for pre-order, will allow it to branch out beyond its current offering of generics, which it states is the widest of any firm in the UK.
OTC brand manager for Teva UK Ryan Ruscoe expressed confidence that the product line will provide a "real alternative" to branded offerings and will help pharmacies to achieve better returns.
Teva commercial director Kim Innes concurred, saying: "We believe that our OTC range will really add further value, helping [pharmacies] achieve their business goals in this challenging healthcare environment."
Last month, Teva completed its takeover of ratiopharm, a deal which saw the company become Europe's largest generic pharmaceuticals business.
