Cook Medical expands antibiotic-impregnated catheter range

23rd September 2010

Cook Medical has expanded its offering of antibiotic-impregnated catheters in order to address a wider range of patient requirements.

The medical technology firm's Spectrum Turbo-Ject product line will now include a variety of new catheter configurations in a wider array of sizes, flow rates and pressure limit settings.

Among them are the first ever minocycline and rifampin-impregnated peripherally-inserted central venous catheters to be made available in 3 French single and 6 French triple lumen sizes.

The firm states that its expanded product range will aid in efforts to combat dangerous catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) in hospital environments.

Dan Sirota, global business leader of Cook Medical's interventional radiology business unit, said: "Spectrum products are leading the industry in protecting against potentially deadly CRBSIs."

Last month, the company launched a new five-lumen central venous Spectrum catheter as part of its augmentation of the product line.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800079423-ADNFCR
